Frequently Asked Questions

What is "in home therapy" and why would it work for me?
Home-based counseling/therapy takes place in a person’s home, rather than in a therapist’s office. The services are offered “In-Home” to increase accessibility, as well as decrease barrier’s such as transportation, physical limitations and stigma. It can be challenging to get to an office for counseling due to illness, disability, finances and personal crisis. I believe it is a privilege to be able to go into someone’s home and offer support and assistance. In home visits are supplemented with telehealth.

What can I typically expect when beginning the process?
The first visit usually lasts about an hour and includes an assessment, where we work together to identify significant issues/concerns and collaboratively develop steps to improve overall mental health and well-being. We usually discuss how often to meet and schedule our next appointment.

I'm looking for assistance for my parent/loved one, what information do I need of theirs?
It is good to have an idea of what the parent/loved one’s current need area/issue is. Would they be willing to meet with someone to talk about their situation? Also, it is helpful to know some of their demographics, including date of birth, address, phone, insurance name(s).

Will insurance cover services?
Usually, but it depends on the insurance company, and some have co-payments.
